Play equipment

We attach paramount importance to safety, and consequently all Bear County play equipment has undergone comprehensive inspection and approved for use. It is extremely important that you make sure that the play equipment remains safe by regularly inspecting moving points (such as bolts and bearings). Check the stability of the play equipment at regular intervals by pulling and pushing hard.

Slide

Inspect the slide for stability and damage at regular intervals. It is important that you also inspect the condition of the slide's attachment points to the play equipment or play tower. In addition, also inspect the ground at the base of the slide; make sure that there are no obstacles (such as tree roots, posts, patio edges, and similar).

Base

A suitable base for play equipment includes a resilient material to cushion children falling from the equipment. The base needs good maintenance if it is to retain these resilient properties.

A number of criteria are of great importance to the construction of a suitable base:

  • A depth of at least 50 cm is required when using natural ground materials.
  • If you opt for natural ground materials and the fall height is in excess of 60 cm then we recommend that you contact the supplier of the ground material to check the maximum fall height for the relevant material.

The suitability of ground materials can vary from situation to situation, and we recommend that you seek advice on the type of material in your situation.
